Cyclones Hand Santiago 3-2 Loss
|
The Miami Cyclones converted a terrific effort from starter Roberto Davila into a win over the Santiago Avispas at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. The Cyclones won the game by a final score of 3-2. Davila, now 7-2, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 2 runs. Ricardo Riveron picked up the save for Miami, his 6th of the year.
Miami used the timely hitting of Takeya Ogata to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Cyclones on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"I think every team will tell you that the pitching sets the tone, especially the starters," said Miami skipper Chris Stephan.
Miami is now 26-30.
