The New York Titans started the Conference Championship in style, downing the visiting Montreal Harfangs at Polo Grounds II by a score of 4-2 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Titans right fielder Zahi Cobo went 3-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.

The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Kamakana Aniani came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Montreal pitcher Antonio Avellaneda, he hit a 2-1 changeup for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting New York on top, 4-2.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Aniani told the New York Citizen.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Polo Grounds II in New York.
