The Brooklyn Browns powered past the hometown New York Titans, 6-2, in the opener of the Divisional Series at Polo Grounds II today. Brooklyn starting pitcher Pablo Alvarez threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Browns now lead the series 1-0.

Helping the Brooklyn cause was Marco Escutia. In the top of the fourth, the former first round draft pick had a run-scoring sacrifice fly to make the score 3-1, Browns.

"It's easier to pitch when you get run support," said Alvarez.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Polo Grounds II in New York.
