3B Pike, Kodiaks Destroy Athletics, 12-2, to Force Game 7
|
The Alaska Kodiaks and the Kansas City Athletics will take the Divisional Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation, the Kodiaks beat the Athletics, 12-2, at Tundradome to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Alaska third baseman Alderaan Pike was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 and driving in 2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Alaska first baseman Adir Barrabi had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and one out, Barrabi stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 4-2, Alaska. For the game, he went 2-4 with a double and a walk.
"They say the first rule of the playoffs is to win the home games," Barrabi said afterward. "It feels nice, but it is kind of what we were supposed to do."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Missouri in Kansas City.
