Blitzed by Pike, Toros, Kodiaks Sink Further in DS
|
Riding the 5-hit performance of first baseman Alderaan Pike, the Tucson Toros stopped the visiting Alaska Kodiaks, 12-4, in Game 2 of the Divisional Series. Pike hit 2 home runs. He scored 4 times and drove in 6 for the Toros, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
In the bottom of the third, Vern Berg delivered a clutch hit. With two gone and the bases loaded, the Tucson designated hitter hit a bases-clearing double, putting the Toros in front, 12-4.
"Things broke our way today and that's great," Toros manager Rick Barnes said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Tundradome in Kodiak Station.
