The Kansas City Athletics started the Divisional Series in style, downing the visiting Alaska Kodiaks at Ballpark of Missouri by a score of 10-6 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Athletics right fielder Hisatoshi Morita was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles, while scoring 3 runs.

Alex Diaz aided the Kansas City cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the designated hitter was 2 for 4 with a double and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Diaz told the Kansas City Citizen.
