Glaciers, Stars Play 10 to Settle Game 2, Denver Now Leads Series 2-0
|
The Denver Glaciers got a strong game from starter Tetsukazu Kaneda, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Glaciers took the 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Stars in Game 2 of the Divisional Series in a 10th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the left-handed Kaneda. Kaneda threw 7.0 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which gave the Glaciers a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Denver third baseman Walter Gravel, facing Miguel Torrez, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Glaciers the 5-4 win.
"That was fun but I'll be happy with a nice, safe win next time," Denver manager Todd Bleess said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Stars Ballpark in Los Angeles.
