League Championship to Astronauts
|
The Sudbury Astronauts ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Lexington Partisans 6-3 to win the League Championship.
Sudbury won the series 5-4, capturing the title for the 3rd time.
"We stepped it up at the right time, and now we're the champs," said Sudbury manager . "It's a great feeling."
The champs finished the regular season 81-39 and claimed first place in the Beta Conference.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, series MVP and left fielder Timothy Waymouth said the Astronauts have "great fans and they deserve this."
"I am so happy for our city right now," he said.
