Harfangs Procure 6-4 Victory
|
Behind the hitting of Jose Gonzales, the Montreal Harfangs defeated the Brooklyn Browns, 6-4. Gonzales went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Harfangs. Marcos Sordia got the win, improving to 7-2. He held the Browns to 2 runs on 6 hits over 5.1 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Manny Arango earned the save for Montreal.
With Montreal trailing 2-0 in the top of the fifth, Gonzales hit a fastball from R.J. Mendenhall for a 3-run home run. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Harfangs ahead, 3-2.
Montreal manager Brendan Henry commended his team for exhibiting "no shortage of effort."
The win puts the Harfangs at 32-23, while the Browns drop to 23-32.
