Walk-Off Win Makes Phoenix 28-27
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds turned back the Tucson Toros, 9-8, at Legednary Park. Victor Moroxio, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Phoenix pitcher Justin Wicker got the win. He's now 1-1. Adam Mimnaugh was tagged with the loss. The second-place Thunderbirds sport a record of 28-27.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out, Moroxio hit a cutter from Adam Mimnaugh for a run-scoring single. The Thunderbirds, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"This place went bonkers at the end," Moroxio said.
