Dragons Capture Close Win
|
The Portland Dragons faced a tough opponent in Seattle pitcher J.P. McNealy, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Portland Park by a final score of 6-5. McNealy went 5.1 innings and allowed no runs. Justin Kurth earned the save for Portland, his 4th. At 26-29, the Dragons are currently 4th in the Western Conference Eric Wise Division.
Had Imbart Sleegers not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Sleegers hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Dragons.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Sleegers said.
