The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.
Montreal starter Danny Mathews ran into little resistance from San Diego hitters, as his team cruised to victory, 11-1. Mathews, now 1-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 3, and allowing 1 run.
Julio Morales hit a run-scoring double off Masaru Uno in the bottom of the first, which put the Harfangs in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Morales had 2 singles and 1 walk, while going 3 for 3.
"Danny gave us a heck of an effort," said Montreal manager Brendan Henry.
Montreal goes to 2-3.
