Senators Beat Cincinnati, 4-3
|
The Cincinnati Twins could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Abdi Bitok into a win. Instead, the Washington Senators prevailed, 4-3. Bitok threw 6.0 innings allowing 2 runs. Keung King picked up the save for Washington, his 11th of the year. Washington is now 23-33, Cincinnati 22-32.
Washington needed the clutch hitting of Alex Tejeda to seal the deal. The left fielder swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Senators on top, 4-3. For the game, Tejeda had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I was a little disappointed," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
