Aquas Stay Hot With 7-4 Win
|
The winning streak continued for Houston.
The Houston Aquas licked the San Francisco Friars, 7-4. Ginjiro Muranaka deserved a big chunk of the credit. The shortstop went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Aquas. Ron Gelsomino, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 5 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 2-2.
Edgar Albuja had a big 3-run home run for the Aquas in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Houston trailing 4-3 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a cutter from Filiberto Ciriaco, who is tied for 5th in the WC in strikeouts with 61, and punished it. The result was his 10th home run of the season, which put the Aquas on top, 6-4.
"Everything seems to be clicking right now for us, top to bottom," said Houston manager Brandon Coroian.
Houston has an impressive 36-18 record.
