Cyclones Drop Harfangs, 4-3
|
The Miami Cyclones did just enough to sneak past the Montreal Harfangs, 4-3, at Mount Royal Park. Miami pitcher Elza Ficquelmont, in particular, had a standout performance. In 5.1 innings, Ficquelmont surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 1. He allowed 3 runs. Ricardo Riveron nailed down his 9th save.
The Cyclones got a big at-bat from right fielder Jason Diaz. For the game, Diaz went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 7th home run of the season gave Miami a 2-0 lead.
Diaz attributed the win to "concerted effort and focus."
Miami goes to 34-20. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.
