Arrows Grind Out 2-0 Win
|
Power Ballpark was the site of a true pitchers' duel.
In a tension-filled contest between the Seattle Arrows and the Phoenix Thunderbirds, pitcher John Goeman was superb. The Seattle left-hander, who finished 4th in the EC in innings pitched with 223.1 in 2074, spearheaded his team's 2-0 win. The winner was Goeman. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was John Hersey. Aaron Narduzzi closed it out for his 10th save.
The Arrows had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 2-0, Seattle, with one out. Phoenix, with a runner on 1st, was mounting a threat. Jonathan Oliver dug in at the plate, but on a first pitch fastball, he popped out.
The Arrows sit in last place in the Western Conference Paul Richardson Division with a record of 23-29.
