Kansas City Rallies for 6-5 Victory
The Kansas City Athletics withstood an impressive performance by Minneapolis designated hitter Tohru Asano to defeat the Vikings, 6-5, at Ballpark of Missouri. Asano went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. The win belonged to Alex Cuevas in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Phil Payne took the loss for Minneapolis. Kansas City occupies 4th place in the Western Conference Brian Boots Division at 71-91.

The decisive blow was delivered by Duviel Zaldivar in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run double off 24-year old right-handed pitcher Phil Payne to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.

"The fans went nuts at the end," Zaldivar said.
