Vikings Curb Thunderbirds, 7-2
|
The Minneapolis Vikings downed the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 7-2, at Minneapolis Grounds. The Vikings were led by Sebastian Bush. Bush went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2. By defeating Phoenix, the third-place Vikings improved to 82-80.
With Minneapolis leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Bush hit a fastball from John Intriago for a 2-run home run. It was his 21st home run of the season and put the Vikings ahead, 3-0.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Minneapolis skipper Ace Cooan.
