Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Stars
|
Getting offensive support from Bobby Badeaux, the Los Angeles Stars topped the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 8-4. Badeaux was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Stars. The winner in relief was Billy Paul. He is now 8-2. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. The win gives Los Angeles a season record of 104-58.
Had Manny Sagastisado not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Sagastisado hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Stars.
