Stars Curb Vikings, 5-3
|
Mike Merdinger, who finished 3rd in the WC in wins with 16 in 2080, had a strong outing for the Los Angeles Stars against the Minneapolis Vikings at Minneapolis Grounds. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-3 win. Merdinger yielded 2 runs over 5.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 5-10. With the win, the Stars have a record of 71-91.
Kamakana Aniani had a big bases-clearing triple for the Stars in the top of the sixth inning. With Los Angeles leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a curveball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Katsuo Nozawa and swatted a triple to left-center. It was his 4th triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 5-0.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Aniani said.
