Boston Stopped, 5-4, by Brooklyn
|
The Brooklyn Browns picked up a win at Brown Town, taking down the Boston Greens, 5-4. Starting pitcher Irakly Alvarez was a big reason why. Getting the save was Kyle Burch, his 6th. With the win, Brooklyn has a record of 83-78. Boston falls to 81-80.
Jack Bird had a big 2-run double for the Browns in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Brooklyn leading 2-1 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Shaun Chugh and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 16th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Browns ahead, 4-1.
"Irakly throwing strikes, pounding the zone, that is exactly what you want to see," said Brooklyn manager Jason Cormier.
