Toros Defeat Vikings, 3-1
|
Both offenses were relatively subdued at Aetna Stadium. Fortunately for the Tucson Toros, though, Tony Tinoco was able to deliver in the clutch. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, to lead his team past the Minneapolis Vikings, 3-1. Don Young converted his 20th save in 28 tries. The 4th-place Toros improved to 63-98.
Orandy Noda had a big solo home run for the Toros in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Tucson leading 2-1 and the bases empty, he sized up a fastball from 22-year old right-handed pitcher Devon Jenkins and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Toros on top, 3-1.
Noda said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
