Titans Stun Twins, 5-4
|
Polo Grounds II was the site of a competitive game between the Cincinnati Twins and New York Titans.
The 5-4 New York win over Cincinnati was due in large part to Victor Moroxio. The Titans shortstop went 4-4 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. Miguel Soto was credited with the save for New York, his 26th of the season.
Steve Czerw went 1-4 for New York. The 24-year old designated hitter had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Brad Jenkins. It was his 97th RBI of the season.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops. "But we decided not to take it."
At 96-64, the Titans claim first place in the Eastern Conference Jose Santovenia Division.
