Due in part to third baseman Oliverios Garduno, the Kansas City Athletics chopped down the Minneapolis Vikings, 6-5, in 10 innings. Garduno belted 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. The Athletics now own a record of 69-91.

The Athletics got a clutch hit from designated hitter Duviel Zaldivar. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single to center, to win the game for the Athletics.

In comments to the Kansas City Bulletin, Zaldivar admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
