Pedro Urquiola was in top form in a tight contest between Minneapolis and Cincinnati. The Vikings right-hander helped his team beat the Twins, 2-1. Dan Tweedy earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2.1 innings. He upped his record to 2-2. Picking up the save was 25-year old right-handed pitcher Phil Payne.

The Twins had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Vikings going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old catcher David Elizalde came to the plate. Elizalde hit a solo home run on a first pitch sinker from Cincinnati hurler Juan Quesada. It was Elizalde's 7th home run of the year.

"Tough loss," said Cincinnati manager Ryan Stoops. "Tough one to swallow."

The second-place Vikings lifted their record to 28-23.
