Stars Come Back Late to Clip Thunderbirds
|
The Los Angeles Stars beat the Phoenix Thunderbirds, 5-4. Los Angeles pitcher and Athens-Clarke County, Georgia, native Chris Rios led the way. The win belongs to Ricky Minjarez in relief. His record improves to 11-3. Patrick Mumcu took the loss for Phoenix. Today's win puts Los Angeles at 103-57, while Phoenix falls to 82-78.
Eloy Laca electrified the crowd in the bottom of the ninth when he took Phoenix pitcher Patrick Mumcu deep. His solo home run sent the Stars home winners.
"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Laca.
