Berg Helps Kodiaks Beat Vikings, 10-5
A 6-RBI performance from the slugging first baseman Vern Berg helped the Alaska Kodiaks beat the Minneapolis Vikings, 10-5. Irakly Alvarez, the winner, goes to 12-12. He allowed 5 runs on 11 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts over 7 innings. Alaska, at 75-82, holds down 4th place in the Western Conference Ricardo Icamén Division.

Berg contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Alaska in the top of the third. With his team trailing 1-0, Berg took a fastball from Abel Downey and stroked the home run to right-center. His 33rd home run of the season allowed the Kodiaks to leap in front, 3-1.
