Athletics Win with Late Heroics
The Kansas City Athletics faced a tough opponent in San Diego pitcher Rin Sakai, but found a way to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Missouri by a final score of 6-4 in 19 innings. Sakai went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Kohsuke Yoshimoto picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 5-4. Santos Gomez was tagged with the loss. With the win, Kansas City goes to 69-88, while the Destroyers fall to 85-72.

The decisive blow was delivered by Duviel Zaldivar in the bottom of the 19th when he hit a 2-run home run off 24-year old left-handed pitcher Santos Gomez to win the game for Kansas City. The home crowd went nuts.

"This place went bonkers at the end," Zaldivar said.
