Senators Rally For Late Win Over Gaedels
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Washington Senators and the St. Louis Gaedels, pitcher Jose Nereida was the difference between victory and defeat. The Washington left-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-1 Senators win. Julio Mendoza notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 7-8. With this game in the books, Washington is 66-92, St. Louis 74-84.
Washington took a 3-1 lead on Mike Cote's 6th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Cote hit in the bottom of the eighth, left St. Louis pitcher Tso-i Mak visibly frustrated.
"The effort we put into this one paid off," Cote said.
