Phantoms Dismiss Wolves, 4-2
|
Chicago registered a win at Foster Field by beating the Vancouver Wolves, 4-2. Pitcher Su-shun Nie was one reason why the Phantoms triumphed. Nie got the win, improving to 8-4. He gave up 11 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. He allowed 2 runs. John Colon, who leads the WC in holds with 37, earned the save for Chicago.
The Phantoms got a big at-bat from third baseman Walter Gravel. For the game, Gravel went 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 3 RBI. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing double. His 39th double of the season gave Chicago a 4-2 lead.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Gravel. "You've got to get results."
Chicago, at 105-53, is 15½ games up in the Western Conference Nala Forcelledo Division.
