Kings Chop Down Gaedels, 6-4
|
John Rochford, who led the WC in ERA with 2.11 in 2073, propelled his team to victory over the St. Louis Gaedels. The final score was 6-4, Baltimore. The winning pitcher was Rochford, now 11-7. He tossed 5.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 2. Picking up his 4th save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher Rocco Porcaro.
Hector Abarca was 1-4 for Baltimore. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the top of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring single off Luis Espiricueta. It was his 116th hit of the season.
"This game will punch you right in the mouth," said Rochford. "My job is to show up and give my team a chance."
Baltimore bumps their record to 83-74 with the win.
