Senators Come Back Late, Nip Gaedels
|
The Washington Senators took St. Louis pitcher Andres Anguiano's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Veeck Park. The final score had Washington getting past the Gaedels, 6-5. Anguiano went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 12. Keung King collected save number 27. The last-place Senators bumped their record to 65-92.
Fidel Reyes went 2-4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for Washington. The 26-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Tso-i Mak. It was his 30th RBI of the season.
"Fun game," said Reyes, "even when the outcome was in doubt."
