Senators Turn Back St. Louis, 4-2
|
The Senators grabbed a win, 4-2, at The ESPN Zone, overcoming a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Lanzo Huitron. Huitron went 6.1 innings and allowed 4 runs. Alfonso Basulto, credited with the win in relief, is now 3-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings. The Senators now own a record of 65-92.
Cosmo Rothman went 1 for 3 with a walk for Washington. The former first round draft pick had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring walk off Trevor Holt. It was his 88th walk of the season.
Washington manager Josh Cooan commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
