Rangers Get Defeated by Angels, 3-1
|
San Antonio Angels starter Jeff Umlah led his team to victory over the Buffalo Rangers, 3-1. The left-hander was locked-in. In 5 innings, Umlah surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 7. He allowed 1 run. Wiley Moore earned the save, his 3rd.
Kamaluhaiakapu Kahakuokahale had a big run-scoring double for the Angels in the bottom of the fifth inning. With San Antonio leading 2-1 and a runner on 2nd, he got a sinker from Josh Breaux, who is on pace for 214 strikeouts this season, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 23rd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Angels ahead, 3-1.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Angels manager Brandon Coroian, "I like our chances."
The first-place Rangers now sit at 81-74.
