Gaedels Bump Off Cyclones, 2-0
|
The St. Louis Gaedels welcomed the Miami Cyclones to an night game at Veeck Park.
In a low-scoring clash between St. Louis and Miami, pitcher Andres Anguiano was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned praise for his performance in the 2-0 Gaedels win. The winner was Anguiano. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ed Rice. Hector Roybal earned the save for St. Louis.
The Gaedels got a big at-bat from third baseman Manny Sagastisado. For the game, Sagastisado went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 21st double of the season gave St. Louis a 2-0 lead.
"Credit where credit is due," said Sagastisado, "this was a team win."
The Gaedels bumped their record to 83-73 with this win.
