Philadelphia Dazed, Davila Gets No-Hitter
|
The Miami Cyclones were just hoping for a solid outing from Roberto Davila. Instead, they got something special.
The 28-year-old hurler tossed a no-hitter against the Philadelphia Spectres, helping the Cyclones take the 5-0 win.
"I felt good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Cyclones. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I wasn't nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."
Davila's repertoire has a fastball, forkball, slider, changeup, and curveball, and he used it all to full advantage, keeping the Philadelphia hitters off balance all game long. The Miami hurler fanned 10 and walked 2 in his history-making performance.
"His fastball looked about the size of a watermelon seed and it hissed at you as it passed," Philadelphia manager Ryan Huff joked after the game.
In 11 starts this year, Davila has fashioned a 4-4 record and a 3.39 ERA.
