Big Day for Vasco in 9-0 Rangers Win
|
Ballpark of Portland was the site for Eastern Conference action featuring the Maine Lobster and Buffalo Rangers.
The Buffalo Rangers bumped off the Maine Lobster, 9-0, at Ballpark of Portland. Rafael Vasco hit 2 singles and 2 doubles. He also had 3 runs batted in. Jose Nereida, the winner, is now 12-8. He struck out 6 and walked 4 over 5.1 innings, while allowing no runs on 2 hits.
Buffalo designated hitter Cole Hickey contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the first. With two down, he hit a cutter to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 173rd hit of the season and put the Rangers ahead, 1-0.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Buffalo manager Alex Beckman.
With the victory, the Rangers upped their record to 88-68.
