Twins Snatch Late-Game, 2-1 Win
|
The Cincinnati Twins scored a tight, 2-1 win versus the San Francisco Friars at Staples Field. Cincinnati pitcher Abdi Bitok held his own in the contest. Reliever Bobby Messer picked up the win. His record improves to 1-4. Jeff Boffa, who finished 4th in the WC in saves with 33 in 2074, took the loss. The setback makes San Francisco 30-20.
Jessie McMenemy came through with a big-time hit for Cincinnati. The third baseman smacked a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 2-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Bitok told a Cincinnati News reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
