Pablo Alvarez never let Denver get something going. The Alaska right-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Kodiaks to a 4-1 win. Alvarez, now 13-7, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. Eddie Izurieta was credited with the save, his 3rd in 4 tries.

Matthew Hinojosa had a big 2-run home run for the Kodiaks in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Alaska leading 2-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from Dryden Ice, who leads the WC in quality starts with 22, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Kodiaks on top, 4-0.

Alvarez called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
