Gonzales Leads Metropolitanos to 11-3 Win Over Phantoms
The Havana Metropolitanos had no problem beating the Chicago Phantoms, 11-3, at Foster Field. Andy Gonzales led the way. He went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 and driving in 2 for Havana. Buddy Verveer went 6.1 innings for Havana to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 3 runs. He scattered 8 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. His record improves to 8-11. The Metropolitanos now have a mark of 84-70.

With Havana leading 2-1 in the top of the third, Gonzales hit a fastball from Felix Talamantez for a 2-run home run. It was his 30th home run of the season and put the Metropolitanos ahead, 4-1.

"No one player deserves all the credit when you win," Gonzales said. "And the same is true when you lose."
