Late Rally by Lobster Locks Up 5-3 Win
|
The Portland (E) Lobster had to overcome a fine effort from Buffalo pitcher Santiago Ontiveros to grab a narrow 5-3 win at Bison Stadium. Ontiveros went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. The winner in relief was Travis Faye. He is now 2-2. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. Portland (E), at 65-89, sits in last place in the Eastern Conference Rodney Hartley Division.
Portland (E) used a clutch hit from Jesus Duran to snatch the win. The first baseman belted a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Lobster ahead, 5-3. It was his only hit, but it was huge.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Duran, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
