Alaska beat Baltimore on the strength of starter Jairo Madueno's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-2. Ruben Guzman earned the save, his 1st, for the Kodiaks. With the victory, the Kodiaks upped their record to 26-24.

The Kings had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Kodiaks going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old first baseman Vern Berg came to the plate. Berg hit a run-scoring double on a 1-0 fastball from Baltimore hurler Doug Lovelace. It was Berg's 21st double of the year.

"It was a good effort all around," said Berg.
