In a tight tilt between Phoenix and San Diego, pitcher Yeniet Miranda was a key contributor. The right-hander earned accolades for his standout performance in the 2-0 Thunderbirds win. The second-place Thunderbirds bumped their record to 85-68.

The Thunderbirds got a big at-bat from designated hitter Joaquin Yanqui. For the game, Yanqui was 1-4 with a home run. In the top of the fourth, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 19th home run of the season gave Phoenix a 1-0 lead.
