Browns Turn Away Avispas, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring game between the Brooklyn Browns and the Santiago Avispas, pitcher Keaton Bozek was masterful on the mound. The Brooklyn left-hander spearheaded his team's 3-1 win. In 7.1 innings, Bozek surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Greg Byrne earned the save for Brooklyn.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Browns had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the second, when third baseman Marcos Barbosa hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Fish Rablood and made the score 1-0, Browns. Barbosa went 1-3.
"Keaton gets tougher when he has to, makes a big pitch when he has to," said Brooklyn skipper Jason Cormier.
The triumph puts Brooklyn at 77-76 for the season.
