The Havana Metropolitanos beat the Santiago Avispas, 6-5, at Estadio Guillermón Moncada. The win was due in part to catcher Alex Flores, who was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. John Kenison earned the win. Volk Miller took the loss for Santiago. Doug Lovelace earned the save, his 5th, for the Metropolitanos.

Flores had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a first pitch changeup from Volk Miller, he banged a 2-run home run to center, giving the Metropolitanos a 6-5 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Flores.

"We'll take some time to unwind," said Flores, "and then get after it again."

The Metropolitanos sport a record of 35-14.
