Toros Tack 3-1 Loss on Dragons
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Tucson Toros and the Portland Dragons. Tucson won it, 3-1. Tucson starter Charles Newton was in command. Newton picked up the win for Tucson, going 5 innings. He gave up 1 run on 2 hits. He now sports a record of 2-5. Adam Mimnaugh earned the save, his 12th.
Tucson used a clutch at-bat from Orandy Noda to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Toros ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Tucson manager Rick Barnes.
Tucson bumps their record to 18-32 with the win.
