The Minneapolis Vikings trumped the Los Angeles Stars, 9-7, at Minneapolis Grounds. Minneapolis shortstop Leo Meza was terrific. He went 2-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Minneapolis reliever Billy Portillo picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Billy Paul absorbed the loss. Marcos Jurado recorded his 1st save for Minneapolis.

Had Ken Odachowski not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Odachowski hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Vikings.

"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Meza told the Minneapolis Herald.

The win takes Minneapolis to 4-2.
