Destroyers Edge Past Vikings, 5-4
The San Diego Destroyers took Marc Diamond's best shot and still were able to collect a win at Seaward Stadium. The final score had San Diego getting past the Vikings, 5-4, in 10 innings. Diamond over 7 innings allowed no runs on 7 hits, while striking out 2. Julio Olivo snagged the win in relief. He goes to 2-3 on the season. Mario Penafiel suffered the loss. With the win, San Diego goes to 25-24, while the Vikings fall to 21-27.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when San Diego catcher Gerardo Freire, facing Mario Penafiel, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Destroyers the 5-4 win.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Freire said.
