Gaedels Knock Off Stars at Veeck Park
The St. Louis Gaedels stopped the Los Angeles Stars, 8-6, behind an impressive performance from Zounes Kamuzu. The five-time Hitter of the Year Award winner made life miserable for Los Angeles pitching. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs. St. Louis reliever Wade West picked up the win. Corey LaCognata, who finished 5th in the WC in wins with 15 last year, took the loss for Los Angeles. With the win, St. Louis goes to 17-31, while the Stars fall to 24-23.

Erleisi Valido came through for St. Louis with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. The first baseman went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in.

"We came out with clear minds and swung the bats well," said St. Louis manager Mak Dolnick.
