Avispas Fall, 8-6, to Gideon, Spectres
|
The Philadelphia Spectres knocked off the Santiago Avispas, 8-6, at Sony Field at Philadelphia. Ron Gideon was a big reason Philadelphia won. The right fielder went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3. Jeong Lee, who finished 3rd in the EC in ERA with 2.46 in 2080, was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 6 hits, with no walks and 4 strikeouts. Alberto Zamora, who is a two-time All-Star, earned the save for Philadelphia.
In the bottom of the sixth, Philadelphia designated hitter Bobby Winterfeld had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Winterfeld stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 8-4, Philadelphia. For the game, he went 3-4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Ryan Huff said.
At 21-27, the Spectres claim 4th place in the Eastern Conference Benito Cossutta Division.
