Vikings Fall Short, 2-1, at Phoenix
|
The Phoenix Thunderbirds stymied the Minneapolis Vikings, 2-1, at Legednary Park. Victor Moroxio had a good day at the plate. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Phoenix. Yoelbi Cabreira, who finished 3rd in the WC in saves with 28 in 2073, was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Andy Doncaster. Miguel Soto closed the door for Phoenix, picking up his 1st save of the year.
Moroxio had a timely hit for Phoenix in the bottom of the sixth. With Phoenix trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-2 splitter into a 2-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season, making it 2-1, Phoenix.
"Tough loss," said Minneapolis manager Ace Cooan. "But that's how the chips sometimes fall."
With the win, Phoenix is 3-1.
