Destroyers Win at Home, 6-1
|
The San Diego Destroyers dealt the Vancouver Wolves a 6-1 loss at Seaward Stadium. Tom Sarmiento, who is on pace for 114 RBI this season, went 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. San Diego goes to 31-16. The win puts them 5 games up in their division.
Sarmiento contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for San Diego in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Sarmiento took a fastball from Raul Garibaldi and stroked the home run to left. His 10th home run of the season allowed the Destroyers to leap in front, 2-1.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Sarmiento told the San Diego Herald.
