The Vancouver Wolves topped the San Diego Destroyers, 8-5, in Western Conference action at Seaward Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Vancouver pitcher Bill Snelgrove. Snelgrove got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 1 run. The last-place Wolves lifted their record to 19-28.

Vancouver used a well-timed hit by John Woodward to capture the win. The left fielder socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Wolves ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Woodward, "one at-bat at a time."
