Loss to Dragons Extends San Francisco Losing Streak
|
The Portland Dragons picked up a win at Portland Park, defeating the San Francisco Friars, 3-2. Starting pitcher Eliecer Cervantes was an essential part of his team's success. The winning pitcher was Cervantes, now 2-0. He tossed 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 6. Nate Daniels picked up his 7th save of the season.
Tadashi Shimizu had a big run-scoring double for the Dragons in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Portland leading 2-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a sinker from 26-year old right-handed pitcher Roger Calzada and swatted a double to right. It was his 8th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dragons ahead, 3-0.
"I felt good. I felt like I was locating the ball well and I was able to keep them off-balance," said Cervantes.
The slumping Friars have lost 6 straight.
